Student Visa
All the international students entering South Korea must apply for either D-4 for Language Courses or D-2 visa for Degree Programs. The visa may be applied in the local embassy or the university applies at local immigration office depending on the type of visa and country of applicant. Please contact the OIA for further information.
- No additional cost occurs for application at local immigration. Refrain from paying extra costs for Visa Codes to local agents or sub-agents.
Foreign Registration
If you plan to stay in Korea for more than 90 days, you are required to register as a foreign national.
⚠️ Important: You must apply within 90 days of arriving in Korea. Late registration may result in a fine.
Documents You Need:
- Foreign Registration Application Form
- Passport
- 1 passport-sized photo (3.5cm × 4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months)
- Certificate of Enrollment & Tuition Payment Certificate
- Proof of Residence (lease agreement, residence confirmation, or dormitory certificate)
- Registration Fee: 35,000 KRW (paid via Woori Bank ATM)
- TB (Tuberculosis) Test Certificate (if applicable — see countries below)
TB Test Required For (35 Countries):

Extending Your Stay
If your visa is expiring and you wish to continue staying in Korea, you must apply for an extension.
📅 When to Apply: Anytime from 4 months before your visa expires up to the expiration date itself. Don't wait until the last minute!
Documents You Need:
- Application Form
- Passport and Foreign Registration Card
- Extension Fee: 60,000 KRW
- Certificate of Enrollment
- Transcript (academic record)
- Certificate of Tuition Fee Payment
- Proof of Residence
Changing Your Visa Status
IIf you are currently on a different visa and need to switch to a D-2 Student Visa, you must apply at the immigration office with the following documents.
Changing to D-2 (Student Visa):
- Application Form
- Passport and Alien Registration Card
- Proof of Residence
- Certificate of Enrollment or Standard Certificate of Admission
- Final Education Certificate (most recent diploma or transcript)
- Language certificate (Mark-sheet from language programs in Korea)
- Financial Proof (minimum bank balance of $16,000 USD — or $8,000 USD if switching from a D-4 visa at the same university)
- Fee: 100,000 KRW (visa change) + 35,000 KRW (registration)
Changing from D-2 to D-10 (Job-Seeking Visa)
If you have completed (or are about to complete) a Associate's degree or higher at a Korean university, you may apply for a D-10 job-seeking visa.
- Maximum stay: 3 years (granted in 12-month periods)
- Required documents: Graduation certificate and job-seeking plan and common documents
- Fee: 135,000 KRW
Part-time Employment
Eligibility: GPA of C (2.0) or above in the previous semester and attendance rate above 70%.

※ English-track programs: Regardless of year, students holding qualifications of TOEFL 530 (CBT 197 / iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, or TEPS 601 (NEW TEPS 327) or above are exempt from submitting proof. Citizens of English-speaking countries are also exempted from submission.
